Night ventilation is an effective passive cooling strategy for buildings, particularly during the summer months. By strategically opening windows and ventilation openings during the cooler nighttime hours, stored heat from the day is dissipated, reducing the cooling demand during the day. A simulation of this scenario using OpenFOAM in combination with the BIM HVACTool demonstrates the benefits and mechanisms of this approach.
